Scarlett Moffatt devastated after mother-in-law's funeral

Scarlett Moffatt has been left "absolutely devastated" over the death of her fiancé's mother. The Gogglebox star, 35, who is engaged to police officer Scott Dobinson and has two-year-old son Jude with him, recently announced that her “mother-in-law” Janice had died.

Emotional tribute after funeral

Taking to Instagram after the funeral on Wednesday, she shared a snap of Janice and wrote: "Today we said goodbye to Jude's Nan Jan. She loved looking at my insta stories so here's one just for you. Thank you for raising the greatest gentleman in Scott, for always being kind and patient with me & for truly being a one of a kind Nan.

"I'm beyond devastated you won't get to meet your other grandson but I know you'll be watching over all of us. I know you are now at peace and pain free, but selfishly I will miss you everyday. Love you forever."

Recent family losses

The sad post comes less than a fortnight after Scarlett revealed that her grandfather had also passed away. She posted a snap with her loved ones, alongside the message: “Unfortunately, more sad news for our family this week. My grandad Moffatt has sadly passed away. Me, Scott and all our family really appreciate all of the love and kindness you’ve shown us following the loss of Janice and now my grandad. Thank you so much.”

Alongside a picture of Jude, she added: “And of course our little Jude to keep us smiling to [sic].”

Relationship and engagement

Scarlett and Scott first started dating in 2019 and welcomed their first child in 2023, sharing news of their engagement at the end of that year. When Scarlett first announced Janice's death, she described her as “one of the loveliest people” she has ever known.

“My heart is broken for Scott and all of his family at the loss of his mam Janice,” she posted on social media. “You were the best Nanna to Jude, the kindest mother-in-law and one of the loveliest people I’ve ever known.

“I’m so upset that you won’t get to meet your second grandson but I know you will be watching over us all, I’ll forever be grateful for all the love, kindness and warmth you showed me from the very beginning, and especially for the love you gave Jude.”
