The child was discovered by concerned locals in the tourist hotspot of Flic-en-Flac, a popular coastal area. Authorities say the boy was unsupervised for an extended period before being taken into protective custody.

Mauritian police confirmed the arrest and stated they are treating the incident seriously. "We found the child in a vulnerable situation near a main road with heavy traffic," a police spokesperson said. "Our primary concern is always child welfare."
