Chalamet Ices Knees After Knicks' Dramatic Finals Win

Thursday was a recovery day, not only for the New York Knicks, but also for celebrity super fan Timothée Chalamet.

'People underestimate the wear and tear on the body of a fan throughout the playoffs,' the 30-year-old actor wrote on Instagram alongside photos of himself icing his knees. 'Self care is important.'

New York secured its 12th straight postseason victory on Wednesday night in San Antonio, rallying from a 14-point second-half deficit to take a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals. However, the dramatic win proved grueling for Chalamet and his fellow fans.

Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson scored 13 of his 30 points during a crucial final stretch, overcoming knee and ankle issues. Other injured players included center Mitchell Robinson, who played just days after surgery on his broken pinkie, and OG Anunoby, who has been dealing with a hamstring problem.

Not to be outdone, the energetic Chalamet was seen jumping up and down from his courtside seats, only to pay the price on Thursday with two ice bags strapped to his knees.

Despite the physical toll, the effort seemed worthwhile for Chalamet and other celebrity Knicks fans who traveled to San Antonio, including Ben Stiller, Spike Lee, Tracy Morgan, and John Turturro. Comedian Shane Gillis was also seated near the floor on Wednesday night.

Other notable attendees included Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing, former Spurs players Robert Horry and Manu Ginobili, and NBA retirees James Worthy and Gary Payton. Legendary Spurs coach Gregg Popovich watched from a VIP suite, having stepped down from his coaching duties to assistant Mitch Johnson after his 2024 stroke.

Back in New York, crowds of Knicks fans flooded the streets near Madison Square Garden, spilling out of watch parties inside and outside the arena.

Game 2 tips off in San Antonio on Friday shortly after 8:30 p.m. EST before the series moves to New York for Games 3 and 4. President Donald Trump and New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani are expected to attend Monday's Game 3 at Madison Square Garden.
