Amanda Knox Extends Support to Convicted Child Killer Lucy Letby
Amanda Knox has publicly disclosed that she has sent a letter of support along with a copy of her memoir titled 'Free' to Lucy Letby, who is currently serving a life sentence in prison. The 38-year-old American made this revelation during a question-and-answer session about her latest documentary, 'Mouth Of The Wolf'.
Documentary Premiere and Family Backlash
Directed by her husband, Christopher Robinson, the documentary chronicles Knox's return to Perugia in Italy, the location where British student Meredith Kercher was tragically murdered in 2007. However, this promotional visit to London has reportedly left the Kercher family feeling deeply distressed and 'speechless'. Their legal representative, Francesco Maresca, has accused Knox of 'cashing in for the umpteenth time on Meredith's memory', expressing that the family believes 'enough is enough'.
Emotional Disclosure at London Event
During her appearance at the Greenwich Picturehouse in London on Tuesday night, Knox fought back tears as she spoke about her efforts to connect with Letby. The former neonatal nurse, aged 36, was convicted for the murder of seven infants and the attempted murder of seven others. Knox, a mother of two, stated, 'I did send her a copy of my book. I wrote a letter to her. I wrote a letter to her parents as well. But I have not talked to her personally.'
Knox's Perspective on Justice and Evidence
Knox further elaborated on her views regarding the legal system, emphasizing that 'You do not need a smoking gun of innocence to say a conviction is unsafe. You do not need to know someone is 100 per cent innocent to say they should not be in prison.' She discussed her podcast, which examines the Letby case and its surrounding controversies, noting that it focuses on 'the facts of the case and what we can actually know' rather than on Letby as an individual. Knox added that people often prioritize how evidence 'makes them feel' over the evidence itself.
Memoir Details and Audience Reactions
Knox's memoir 'Free', published last year, details her life following her release from jail, with a particular focus on the aftermath of her acquittal. She previously authored a book in 2013 called 'Waiting To Be Heard'. An audience member who interacted with Knox revealed to the Daily Mail that she encouraged Letby to maintain 'hope'. This gesture of support has ignited significant public debate and criticism, highlighting the ongoing tensions between Knox's advocacy and the grievances of the Kercher family.
