Sky News Halts for Breaking Trump Iran Threat Announcement
Sky News Halts for Breaking Trump Iran Threat

Sky News presenter Matt Barbet halted the show for a breaking news announcement concerning Donald Trump's latest threats against Iran. During a segment on the third consecutive night of US attacks on Iran, Trump declared the US would restore its blockade of Iranian ports and act as "the guardian" of the Strait of Hormuz.

Breaking News Announcement

Barbet informed viewers: "Some breaking news to bring you now. Donald Trump has talked about Iran this evening, saying, 'We're going to hit them hard tonight and tomorrow.' He has spoken on the Hugh Hewitt Show about this. He seems to suggest more military action this evening." The announcement came as Tehran and Washington clashed over control of the strait following an exchange of strikes throughout Sunday night.

Trump's Statement and Reaction

In a Truth Social post on Monday, Trump vowed the strait "will remain OPEN, with or without Iran." He later dismissed the significance of a memorandum of understanding signed last month with Iran to permanently end hostilities, calling it a "test" and claiming the US is dealing with dishonourable "sleaze bags." In the interview with Hugh Hewitt, Trump stated: "We're going to hit them very hard tonight and we're going to hit them hard tomorrow - and there's not a damn thing they can do about it. They have nothing. They have nothing going other than they have big mouths."

Viewers reacted to the Sky News announcement, with one commenting: "The president finds himself in an unwinnable war of attrition where the more he hits, the more he loses." Another wrote: "Trump is trapped. He is losing control here. It's always the same. UK should stay well out of all these troubles. We have no business in Iran or US."
