Former NASCAR driver and prominent MAGA supporter Danica Patrick has unleashed a fierce criticism against young New York voters following the election of democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani as mayor.
A Landslide Victory for Progressive Politics
The 34-year-old Mamdani secured his position as mayor-elect with a commanding 50.4 percent of the vote, decisively beating former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who garnered 41.6 percent support. Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa trailed significantly with just 7.1 percent of the vote, marking a significant shift in New York's political landscape.
Patrick's Scathing Social Media Verdict
The 43-year-old racing legend took to Instagram to express her scepticism about Mamdani's policy platform. Sharing a clip featuring businessman Mark Cuban in conversation with Bill Maher, Patrick offered a withering assessment of socialist approaches to governance.
"Can this work! No," Patrick wrote, accompanying her post with a crying-with-laughter emoji. She elaborated with a stark warning: "Nothing is free, people. And if it is, you're the product."
The Ideological Battle Over Urban Policy
In the video that prompted Patrick's response, Cuban analysed the appeal of Mamdani's proposals, suggesting that younger generations' dissatisfaction with capitalism has been amplified through social media dynamics. "Ragebait works better in social media," Cuban remarked.
Cuban directly addressed Mamdani's campaign promises, noting: "And if Mamdani is out there saying 'you're getting free housing, you're getting free transportation, cheaper groceries, that's what they are going to respond positively to.'" When Maher pressed Cuban on whether such policies could actually succeed, the billionaire entrepreneur responded with derision, stating "no, course not".
Patrick's political engagement represents a relatively recent development in her public life. She revealed last year that she cast her first-ever vote to support Donald Trump's bid to return to the White House, making the announcement alongside now Vice-President JD Vance at a North Carolina rally.
Her commitment to conservative causes continues to deepen, evidenced by her recent MAGA night out in Washington DC with prominent figures including Lara Trump, Tulsi Gabbard, and Meghan McCain following a group workout session at Fort McNair.
