Turning Point USA, a conservative-leaning organisation, launched an alternative "All-American Halftime Show" that aired concurrently with Bad Bunny's official Super Bowl performance. The event, featuring Kid Rock and other country musicians, was broadcast for 25 minutes and drew significant attention amid political tensions.
Viewership Statistics and Comparisons
The Turning Point USA show achieved an average viewership of four to five million people during its broadcast. Peak viewership was estimated to reach between 5.7 and 6.2 million at its height. In stark contrast, Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show is projected to have attracted approximately 128 million viewers, positioning it as one of the most-watched halftime performances in history.
Political Context and Public Opinion
Turning Point USA announced its alternative show in October 2025, following conservative criticism of Bad Bunny. The Puerto Rican singer has been an outspoken critic of former US president Donald Trump and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Despite Trump's disapproval of Bad Bunny, a YouGov America survey indicated that 35 per cent of respondents preferred Bad Bunny's performance, compared to 28 per cent who favoured the Kid Rock-headlined event.
The show's timing, moments before Bad Bunny took the stage, highlighted the cultural and political divisions surrounding the Super Bowl. While the conservative event garnered millions of viewers, it failed to match the widespread appeal and historical viewership of the official halftime show, underscoring the dominance of mainstream entertainment in such high-profile events.
