Trump Briefed on New Iran Strike Options as He Pushes for Deal
Trump Weighs New Military Options Against Iran

Donald Trump has reportedly been briefed on new military options against Iran, including potential “short and powerful” strikes, taking control of the Strait of Hormuz to restore shipping, and securing enriched uranium. Trump claimed earlier in an interview with Newsmax’s Greta Van Susteren that the US had “already won” the war with Iran, stating its military and leadership were destroyed, but expressed a desire to win by a “bigger margin”.

Economic and Diplomatic Fallout

The CEO of the world’s largest fertiliser company Yara International warned that the conflict could cause fertiliser price increases and food shortages, especially impacting African nations. Bahrain revoked the citizenship of 69 nationals, accusing them of Iran sympathy, a move criticised as “collective punishment” by a human rights group.

Ceasefire and Weapons Concerns

A ceasefire between the US and Iran has reportedly “terminated” hostilities for the purpose of a congressional war powers deadline, with Iran allegedly using the pause to excavate buried weapons. The development comes as Trump pushes Tehran to make a deal, while weighing new military options to secure a more decisive victory.
