President Donald Trump will address the nation on Wednesday, April 1, at 9 PM ET regarding the war in Iran, causing major schedule disruptions across broadcast networks. The speech, expected to last 20 minutes, will be carried live by all four major networks, forcing last-minute adjustments to primetime programming.
On the East Coast, Fox's two-hour season finale of The Masked Singer and CBS's special two-hour episode of Survivor will be paused at 9 PM ET for the address. Both shows will resume after the speech, concluding by 10:20 PM ET, with The Masked Singer crowning its winner. Fox will then air local news, while CBS will broadcast an all-new episode of America's Culinary Cup from 10:20 PM to 11:20 PM ET.
NBC's Chicago Med will air as scheduled from 8-9 PM ET, but Chicago Fire will start at 9:20 PM ET, followed by Chicago P.D. at 10:20 PM ET, pushing local news to 11:20 PM ET. CBS and NBC's late-night shows, including The Late Show and The Tonight Show, will start at 11:50 PM ET. On the West Coast, the address will air at 6 PM PT, causing no primetime or late-night disruption.
ABC has opted to replace original episodes of The Greatest Average American and Shark Tank with repeats on both coasts. In the East, Trump's speech will pre-empt the Greatest Average American rerun, with the network joining the episode in progress at 9:20 PM ET. The Shark Tank encore will start at 10:01 PM ET, keeping local news and Jimmy Kimmel Live (in reruns) on schedule.
