Stacey Solomon's BGT Debut: Cheeky Swipe at Dancer

Stacey Solomon's Britain's Got Talent Judging Debut Features Cheeky Moment

Stacey Solomon, the 36-year-old Loose Women star, has made her highly anticipated debut as a judge on Britain's Got Talent, stepping in for head judge Simon Cowell after his recent fall down the stairs. In an exclusive first look at this Saturday's episode on ITV, Solomon is seen thoroughly enjoying a performance by a male dance group, but she couldn't resist taking a rather cheeky swipe at one of the dancers.

A Playful Exchange on Stage

During the audition, Stacey Solomon was visibly excited as she watched the dancers show off their moves, with fellow judge Alesha Dixon even fanning her to cool her down. The dancer at the front of the group continuously stuck out his tongue while performing, which caught Solomon's attention. After the performance, she told the group, 'I thoroughly enjoyed it,' before turning her focus to the tongue-wagging dancer.

She asked him, 'What is your name, sir?' to which he replied, 'Antonio.' Solomon then delivered her playful critique, saying, 'This is just personal preference. You kept poking your tongue out, I don't know if you are aware!?' She demonstrated by sticking her own tongue out, adding, 'Lots of this.' When Antonio asked, 'So much?!' she replied with a smile, 'A little bit too much.' The dancer appeared embarrassed by the light-hearted remark.

Reflecting on Her Role and Nerves

Speaking about her upcoming stint on the programme during Wednesday's episode of This Morning with Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, Stacey Solomon expressed her enthusiasm for the role. She said, 'I loved it. Do you know what's really funny about having that full circle moment? I could connect with the people on the stage because it's not easy to put yourself forward in those situations.'

She also joked about the perks of judging, noting, 'Two, I realise what it's like to present a show where you're not digging through people's houses, and you get to dress up, wear a nice dress and sit in a chair all day! I was like "wow this is a great job!" This is what presenting is all about, isn't it? You get to sit there, get your makeup done.'

Solomon reflected on her own experiences with talent shows, stating, 'My whole career is thanks to the X Factor, and a show like Britain's Got Talent, where someone gave me the opportunity, gave me the chance to put myself out there. These shows are really close to my heart, and to see other people coming up through those talent shows, even just enjoying the experience, whether it turns into something or not, it felt really special to be a part of.'

When Ben Shephard pointed out that she was incredible on The X Factor but doesn't perform anymore, Solomon confessed, 'It's not that I don't, I just find it scary, I find it really scary. Every performance, I'd be so nervous.' She shared that even during the tour, she never overcame her nerves, saying, 'I thought this is where I learn to let go of the nerves, get over it and start enjoying the performance. I never did.'

Background and Scheduling Note

This episode marks a notable moment in the 19th series of Britain's Got Talent, which has aired three weeks of auditions so far. However, last Saturday's episode was cancelled to accommodate live Six Nations rugby coverage, with France taking on England. Viewers had to wait a bit longer for the next instalment, making Solomon's debut even more anticipated.

Stacey Solomon's judging debut combines her signature humour with genuine empathy for contestants, highlighting her journey from talent show contestant to judge. Her cheeky interaction with Antonio adds a memorable touch to the episode, showcasing her playful personality while maintaining the show's entertaining spirit.
