Court documents have revealed that radio host Kyle Sandilands repeatedly launched expletive-laden tirades against executives, censors, critics, and listeners of the Kyle and Jackie O Show, according to a defence filed by his former employer ARN. The documents, released by the federal court on Thursday, detail alleged rants that aired months before Sandilands was sacked for “serious misconduct”.
ARN’s defence claims Sandilands called activist group Mad Fucking Witches (MFW) “dangerous lunatics” and said he would have private investigators follow them. He reportedly told the in-house censors, “Don’t go bleeping this shit out or you censors will have no job,” and referred to ARN executives as “pussies”. The broadcaster also claimed “the bosses have no control whatsoever over what we do on this show”.
The shock jock allegedly denigrated the show’s Melbourne audience, telling them: “If we don’t rate better by the end of this year, I’ll just take the show off Melbourne. You can suck my dick.” He also said he did not care about shareholders, stating “I got my money. End of caring.”
The dispute began after an on-air argument with co-host Jackie “O” Henderson, who walked off the breakfast show and later launched legal action claiming at least $82.25 million for wrongful termination. Henderson alleged she was subjected to “degrading” comments by Sandilands, who told her “I’ve been carrying this whole show for a fucking year.”
ARN has filed a cross-claim against both presenters, alleging Sandilands breached his $100 million contract through behaviour that caused Henderson to refuse to work with him, resulting in lost advertising revenue. The company is seeking damages from the pair for breach of contract.
