Russia Issues Chilling Threat to Blow Up Westminster Bridge in Retaliation

A prominent Russian propagandist has issued a stark and horrifying threat to destroy London's iconic Westminster Bridge. This menacing declaration comes as a direct response to newly revealed details about the deployment of British-made heavy-lift drones by Ukrainian forces in a successful sabotage operation against a Russian-held bridge last year.

Revelation of British Drone Deployment Sparks Fury in Moscow

The catalyst for this escalation is the recent disclosure that in March 2025, Ukraine's innovative 426th Unmanned Systems Regiment utilised British Malloy T-150 heavy-lift drones to devastating effect. Over a period exceeding sixty days and across more than thirty missions, these drones delivered a staggering 1.5 tons of explosives, ultimately destroying a critical bridge over the Konka River, a tributary of the Dnipro. Although the area was under Russian occupation at the time, it remains internationally recognised as Ukrainian territory.

Ukrainian Colonel Oleksii Bulakhov, commander of the regiment, explained the tactical brilliance of the operation. "Bridges are relatively easy to destroy from underneath," he stated. "But they are engineered in a way that makes them extremely robust from the outside." The operation involved lowering a 50kg shaped charge by cable onto the bridge's weakest structural points before a missile ignited the explosives.

Russian Propagandists Call for Direct Retaliation Against UK

This revelation has ignited fury within Russian state media circles. Vladimir Kornilov, a Moscow-based propagandist and so-called British "expert", expressed outrage at the UK's involvement. "It's noteworthy how the British openly boast about their participation in acts of sabotage," he complained, falsely characterising the strike as being on Russian territory.

Kornilov then issued a direct and chilling threat: "It’s high time we started bragging: 'Russian missiles destroyed the key Westminster Bridge'. Of course, the Houthis or the Iranians will be the ones doing the hitting!" He questioned what the British public would "sing about" if the bridge, situated next to the Houses of Parliament, was reduced to rubble.

This sentiment was echoed by the pro-Putin outlet Tsargrad, which asked, "Isn't it time to shift the strikes to the decision-making centre after such a candid admission?" The threat underscores a long-standing Russian fixation with the landmark. Notably, a photograph exists of convicted Putin spy Anna Chapman on Westminster Bridge before her detention by the FBI and subsequent stripping of UK citizenship.

A Significant Escalation in Rhetorical Warfare

The threat against Westminster Bridge represents a significant and dangerous escalation in Russia's rhetorical warfare against the United Kingdom. By explicitly naming a iconic London landmark and suggesting proxy attacks, Russian propagandists are attempting to intimidate and deter further Western support for Ukraine. The operation on the Konka bridge, once thought to be a conventional aerial strike, is now confirmed as one of the most ingenious and effective drone-led sabotage missions of the four-year conflict, thanks to British technology and Ukrainian bravery. This new information has clearly struck a nerve in Moscow, prompting these extreme and threatening statements aimed at the heart of British democracy.
