Princess Anne Touches Down in Sydney for Australian Tour
Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal has officially commenced her 2025 Australian tour, touching down in Sydney with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence. The royal couple were greeted by brilliant blue skies as they arrived on Saturday, 8th November, marking the Princess's first visit to the country in two years.
The 75-year-old princess emerged from the airport smiling warmly at the assembled media, flanked by up to five security personnel. Princess Anne was dressed elegantly in a double-breasted black blazer, complemented by a striped cream blouse and matching cream trousers, carrying a simple black handbag. She was promptly whisked away from the arrivals terminal in a private black car, heading directly to her first engagement.
A Packed Itinerary for the Princess Royal
This four-day visit represents the first trip to Australia by any member of the British Royal Family in 2025, following King Charles III and Queen Camilla's brief visit last October. Buckingham Palace has confirmed the tour will officially run from November 8th to 11th, with the Princess participating in a series of engagements across several capital cities.
The central purpose of the visit is to mark the Centenary of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals, for which Princess Anne has served as Colonel-in-Chief since 1997. The RA Sigs are technical specialist soldiers providing crucial communications, electronic warfare, and cyber capabilities for military operations.
The royal itinerary includes:
- Sunday 9th November: Princess Anne will attend Remembrance Day commemorations in Sydney, laying a wreath at the Anzac Memorial in Hyde Park and the Sydney War Cemetery in her capacity as President of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. She will then attend a Remembrance Sunday Service at 10am, followed by a garden party and parade at Victoria Barracks at 11:30am to celebrate the Corps' centenary.
- Monday 10th November: The Princess travels to Canberra for events related to the Corps' centenary, including a commemorative parade.
- Wednesday 11th November: The final day sees the royal couple heading to Brisbane, where Princess Anne will attend a Remembrance Day Service and Capability Demonstration. She will also lay a wreath at Gallipoli Barracks to commemorate Armistice Day.
Continuing a Longstanding Connection
This visit continues Princess Anne's deep and longstanding connection with Australia, which she has visited more than twenty times throughout her life. Her most recent tours occurred in 2022 and 2023.
The 2022 visit coincided with the first anniversary of her father, Prince Philip's passing, and saw her officially open the Royal Easter Show while celebrating the bicentenary of the Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth. Her brief February 2023 trip included engagements with the Royal Australian Corps of Transport and NSW Mounted Police.
Following her Australian engagements, Princess Anne and Sir Tim will travel to Singapore for a two-day visit from November 12th to 13th, marking 60 years of diplomatic relations between the UK and Singapore.
