Patsy Kensit Reveals Past Hurts and Secret Affair

Patsy Kensit Speaks Candidly About Past Relationships and Personal Struggles

Actress Patsy Kensit has opened up about being "really hurt by people in the past" during a revealing new interview. The 58-year-old star, who began her showbusiness career at just four years old, discussed her complex romantic history, including four marriages and five engagements, while also addressing her recent diagnosis with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Reflections on Marriage and Britpop Fame

Kensit made rare comments about her marriage to Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, which lasted from 1997 to 2000. Despite their public personas as wild partygoers who frequently appeared on newspaper front pages, Kensit revealed that their private life was surprisingly domestic. "We would spend most evenings at home watching TV and eating spaghetti hoops," she disclosed.

The couple, who share son Lennon, now 26, were forced to cancel their original wedding plans when Channel 4's Big Breakfast turned up to broadcast from outside their home. They eventually married in a secret 7am ceremony at Marylebone Town Hall.

Addressing Public Perception and Personal Protection

Kensit expressed frustration with how the media portrayed her during the 1990s. "There were a few pictures taken of me in the 1990s, looking upset, or kicking a car door in," she told The Telegraph, referencing an infamous row with Gallagher. "I think the press had established this fragile, needy person, this image of someone who was almost everything I wasn't."

The actress explained her current approach to relationships: "I have been really hurt by people over the years, I'm not made of Teflon, and so I choose to protect myself. I don't need to be around people to feel okay."

Secret Affair Revealed After 35 Years

In one of the interview's most surprising revelations, Kensit admitted to keeping a love affair with actor Terence Stamp secret for 35 years. The relationship occurred in the early 1990s when they worked together on the thriller Prince of Shadows, with Stamp being 30 years her senior.

"We were star-crossed lovers and he was a total gentleman," Kensit described. "Even though there was an age gap, we had a strong bond. He was an amazing and generous lover... He was probably the most beautiful man I'd ever seen."

She explained that she didn't feel ready to discuss the brief romance until after Stamp's death in 2025 at age 87, not wanting to "hurt" anyone while he was alive.

PTSD Diagnosis and Current Outlook

Kensit revealed she was diagnosed with PTSD at the end of last year. Post-traumatic stress disorder is a mental health condition caused by extremely stressful or terrifying events. In an Instagram post, she shared: "Today I feel mislead and hurt. I was diagnosed with PTSD at the end of last year and really turned a major corner and was feeling great."

Despite her struggles, the actress has developed coping mechanisms. "When I'm working I feel none of the above," she noted. "I will meditate and try and raise my frequency to bring positivity back into my life."

Romantic History and Future Expectations

Kensit's marital journey includes:

  1. Dan Donovan (1988-1991): Married at 22 to the Big Audio Dynamite musician
  2. Jim Kerr (1992-1995): Married to Simple Minds frontman, with whom she shares son James, now 32
  3. Liam Gallagher (1997-2000): Britpop-era marriage that produced son Lennon
  4. Jeremy Healy (2009-2010): Brief marriage to the Nineties DJ

She also called off her engagement to property tycoon Patric Cassidy in 2024, just two years after accepting his proposal during a fish supper.

Now, Kensit says she has given up on finding another partner. "I wouldn't want a relationship, I am not interested," she told Hello! magazine. "I do believe in love. But for me it's not something I need, I have been on my own a long time and I like my own company. Now, it's just adjusting my life to fill the hole that's in my soul."

The actress emphasized her priority has been her sons' relationships with their fathers, noting she hasn't spoken to her ex-husbands in years but supports those paternal connections. "My goal has always been that my sons had a really good relationship with their fathers," she explained.
