New York Influencer Hosts Lavish 'Solo Wedding' in Northampton for 40th Birthday

A social media influencer from New York has made headlines after spending more than £30,000 on a unique 'solo wedding' celebration in Northampton to mark her 40th birthday. Brittany Allyn, 40, travelled from the United States to the English countryside for what she described as a 'wedding birthday' weekend, inspired by her deep admiration for British aristocracy.

An Empowering Celebration of Self-Love

Ms Allyn, who boasts nearly 400,000 followers on Instagram, booked out the entire Grade I listed Hinwick House in Wellingborough for the extravagant event. She explained that she wanted to transform what could have been a 'daunting' milestone into something she could eagerly anticipate. 'I think last summer I woke up and it was August 7 and I was like 'wow, in six months I'm turning 40, I'm on countdown now,'' she recalled. 'I was like 'OK, I can't stop it, so what if I do something that's going to make me feel better looking forward to 40 instead of being depressed for the next six months?''

Working closely with event planner Louise Wright, Ms Allyn orchestrated a weekend that she hoped would serve as an 'empowering moment' for herself and other women. 'I did this viral video I filmed quickly before I went down the aisle,' she said. 'I filmed that moment to show that I had waited 20 years dreaming of getting married and waiting for someone else to complete me and make memories, when I could just do it myself.'

A Themed Weekend of Extravagance

The celebration kicked off with a Saltburn-themed wedding bash on the first evening, where Ms Allyn wore a stunning white Millia London deep-v tiered tulle gown, selected with the help of royal and celebrity stylist Olivia Buckingham. The following day, she and her 35 guests enjoyed a 'Princess Diana day of shooting,' all dressed in Ralph Lauren attire and feasting on a traditional English picnic. For this occasion, she even rented a vintage 1980s Land Rover Defender, which was driven two hours to the venue.

That evening, Hinwick House was transformed into a Studio 54-inspired venue, complete with a surprise saxophonist, disco-themed cupcakes, and a vibrant dance party that lasted into the early hours. 'We partied into the wee hours in the living room - like it was straight out of Saltburn,' Ms Allyn remarked.

Personal Touches and Sentimental Moments

No detail was overlooked in making the weekend memorable. Ms Allyn had a dedicated team for hair, makeup, photography, and content creation. She wore a blue lace outfit while getting ready in a 'very iconic bridal suite.' Her aunt, Pamela Allyn, 74, presented her with a special heirloom watch as her 'something borrowed.' In a touching nod to traditional weddings, her brother Ricky, 36, walked her down the stairs, which served as the 'aisle' to greet her guests.

The elaborate Saltburn-esque dinner featured a martini fountain, a truffle fries station, and millennial hits playing throughout the night. Ms Allyn gave a heartfelt speech, sharing a memory of each guest to bond them together. 'At 7pm we had a champagne tower going and violinists playing 'Canon D' the famous wedding song,' she added.

A Historic and Empowering Statement

Reflecting on the significance of her event, Ms Allyn expressed pride in possibly making history. 'I realised I might have just have thrown the first women's empowerment event in the hall's history,' she said. 'That house was 300 years old and I'm the first woman to pay for every single dime for the event myself and probably the first woman that threw an event itself.' She emphasized that the message was not just about being a bride but about celebrating oneself. 'The message is not just to be a bride, it's more just about how do you celebrate you - you might have all these moments and dreams of wanting a wedding. I got to do all the little moments I never had.'

Post-Celebration 'Me-Moon' in Paris

After the weekend festivities, Ms Allyn headed to Paris for what she termed a 'me-moon'—a solo honeymoon concept she created to 'decompress' after her birthday celebrations. This final touch underscored her commitment to self-celebration and independence, capping off a remarkable journey that blended luxury, personal empowerment, and a touch of British heritage.
