Filming for a Game of Thrones spin-off series has been suspended after severe flooding hit parts of Spain, where production was underway. The incident occurred in the region of Almería, known for its arid landscapes often used as stand-ins for Essos in the original series.
Sources close to the production confirmed that heavy rains caused flash floods, damaging sets and equipment. No injuries were reported among cast or crew, but filming has been paused indefinitely while assessments are made.
HBO has yet to issue an official statement, but insiders suggest the delay could impact the spin-off's planned release schedule. The series is one of several prequels in development, with HBO previously confirming five potential projects.
This setback comes as the network prepares for the final season of Game of Thrones, which is expected to air in 2019. Despite the flooding, production on the main series remains unaffected.
