Emmerdale Star Laura Norton and Partner Mark Jordon Share Heartfelt Update on Peppa Pig Campaign

Emmerdale actress Laura Norton, renowned for her role as Kerry Wyatt, and her partner, former Emmerdale actor Mark Jordon, have shared an emotional life update, revealing their involvement in a significant new Peppa Pig campaign. The couple, who are parents to two children diagnosed with Usher Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder, expressed their pride in representing the parental perspective for this initiative.

Campaign Aims to Normalise Hearing Loss in Children

On Thursday, February 5, Norton and Jordon took to Instagram to announce their participation in the launch of a Peppa Pig campaign that introduces a character with moderate hearing loss. In the campaign, Peppa's little brother George is depicted wearing a hearing aid, a move designed to raise awareness and foster empathy. The couple emphasised the campaign's importance in normalising hearing loss, showing that individuals with such conditions are capable, able, and resilient, just like everyone else.

They stated, "We were asked by Hasbro and the National Deaf Children's Society to represent the parental side and jumped at the chance. Awareness is key, and the huge positive impact this will have on children with hearing loss and their families is so exciting." Norton and Jordon highlighted that the campaign promotes understanding and inclusivity, which they find invaluable for their own children and the broader community.

Overwhelming Support from Emmerdale Co-Stars

Following their announcement, several of Laura Norton's Emmerdale colleagues rushed to show their support in the comments section. Mandy Dingle actress Lisa Riley wrote, "Fantastic news - adore you both," while Isabel Hodgins, who plays Victoria Sugden, added, "So much love." Other co-stars, including Belle Dingle star Eden Taylor-Draper and Charity Dingle actress Emma Atkins, echoed these sentiments, with former star Kelvin Fletcher calling it "incredible" and "amazing."

Background on Laura Norton's Role and Personal Life

Laura Norton, 42, has played Kerry Wyatt on Emmerdale since 2012, with the character involved in numerous memorable storylines, such as repairing her relationship with daughter Amy, managing diabetes, and faking a terminal illness. Recently, fans were surprised when Kerry married Eric Pollard on Christmas Eve 2025 to protect his savings. Off-screen, Norton and Jordon are parents to five-year-old Jesse and three-year-old Ronnie, both diagnosed with Usher Syndrome, which causes hearing loss, progressive vision loss, and sometimes balance issues.

The couple expressed excitement about the campaign's authenticity, noting they previewed the first two episodes and found them informative, funny, and moving. They concluded, "Such a brilliant moment, and we are so proud to be representing this campaign. Can't wait for you all to see and can't wait to see more."

Emmerdale continues to air weekday nights at 8pm on ITV1 and STV, as part of ITV's new soap scheduling pattern.
