Jacob Elordi's Gallant Gesture Steals Show at Rainy London Premiere
Jacob Elordi proved that chivalry is far from dead as he escorted co-star Margot Robbie through a rain-drenched red carpet for the London premiere of Wuthering Heights. The 28-year-old actor selflessly held an umbrella over Robbie, ensuring her stunning Dilara Findikoglu gown remained impeccable while his own dapper grey Bottega Veneta suit bore the brunt of the downpour.
A Soaked Suit and Unwavering Smiles
Video footage shared across social media platforms captured Elordi's complete disregard for the inclement weather ruining his sophisticated attire. With his long hair tousled by the wind, the charismatic star happily posed for selfies with devoted fans amidst the terrible conditions. Once safely inside the theatre, both actors were seen clowning for the cameras, laughing off the awful weather that had threatened to dampen the evening's glamour.
Margot Robbie, aged 35, dazzled onlookers with her daring Georgian-inspired outfit, which featured a Victorian-era corset and intricate green-trimmed detailing. Despite being speckled with raindrops, Elordi maintained his cool demeanour in his shin-length coat-jacket and pleated trousers, accessorised with a leather tie and black patent leather dress shoes.
Off-Screen Chemistry Mirrors On-Screen Romance
Robbie has been embracing the Georgian era aesthetic throughout the film's press tour, with her recent outfits nodding to the period drama and the 1847 Emily Brontë novel that inspired it. In the new cinematic adaptation, she portrays Catherine Earnshaw opposite Elordi's Heathcliff, and their off-screen camaraderie has nearly overshadowed their on-screen romantic tension in recent weeks.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Robbie expressed her enjoyment of the film's emotional intensity, revealing her character cries almost relentlessly in every scene. "The movie kind of demands a lot of all of us," she stated. "I loved playing a character who kind of swings from one wild emotion to the other in an instant." When questioned about preparing for romantic scenes, she confirmed her approach remains consistent across all sequences.
Director Emerald Fennell on Creating a Safe Environment
The film is written and directed by Emerald Fennell, who previously collaborated with Elordi on Saltburn. The 40-year-old filmmaker emphasised that "safety and trust and love" were paramount when orchestrating intimate scenes. "It's always just about making sure everyone feels super comfortable," Fennell explained. "We trust each other and so we try to kind of make it funny and laugh everything off. But love scenes are just the same as any other scene, really."
Fennell also praised Robbie's multifaceted talents and generous spirit, describing her as "an inspiration" and "an extraordinary woman" who balances motherhood, producing, and acting while always making time for those around her.
Wuthering Heights is scheduled to open in Australian theatres on February 12, promising audiences a fresh take on the classic tale of passion and tragedy, brought to life by its dedicated cast and crew.
