British actor Danny Dyer made a candid appearance on BBC's The One Show this Wednesday, delivering a stark warning to certain viewers about his newest cinematic venture. The EastEnders and Rivals star advised fans who are not particularly fond of his acting performances to absolutely avoid his latest film, One Last Deal.
A Frank Discussion on The One Show
Seated alongside presenters Clara Amfo and Vernon Kay, with Fearne Cotton also on the programme's sofas, Dyer delved into the details of his upcoming project. The film, which hits theatres this Friday, 13th March, features Dyer in a solo performance as football agent Jimmy Banks, a character embroiled in a high-stakes race against time to secure a final lucrative deal for a major client.
Character Insights and Personal Quips
Describing his role, Dyer explained, "Jimmy hasn't got many morals about him. He's driven by the dollar and been a really bad husband, a bad father." In a moment of self-deprecating humour, he added, "Sounds a bit like me, to be honest with you," before outlining the film's gripping narrative, as reported by Wales Online.
The soap star revealed an unusual aspect of the production, stating, "I'm the only one in it. So I'm here to promote it. It's me in a room on the phone for an hour and a half." He then issued his blunt caution: "I'm gonna be honest, if you're into me then you'll love it, if you're not into me do not go anywhere near this film. Because it will wind you up." Clara Amfo quickly reassured him, saying, "People are into you, Danny! You're alright."
The Challenges of a Solo Performance
Dyer acknowledged that the demanding one-man show was a significant test, admitting it made him "go crazy" and comparing its dramatic twists to an episode of The Twilight Zone. He also confessed that he could not have handled such a role earlier in his career, as he would have been a "liability," highlighting his growth as an actor.
Teasing the Return of Rivals
While promoting One Last Deal, Dyer also generated excitement for the much-anticipated second season of Disney+'s Rivals, where he reprises his role as Freddie Jones. Set to premiere on 15th May, the new series arrives several months after the sad passing of novelist Jilly Cooper last October.
Dyer hinted at deeper storylines, saying, "You thought the first one was good? We really, really delve into it this time. We've only scratched the surface, honestly. I'm so excited for people to see it." He paid tribute to Cooper, adding, "And, of course, in memory of Jilly Cooper who we lost, and we've done her justice, don't you worry yourself about that."
Audience Anticipation and Viewing Details
Fans of Danny Dyer now have a dual treat to look forward to: his intense solo film experience in cinemas this week and his return to the glamorous world of Rivals in May. The One Show continues to air weekdays at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, offering more insights into such entertainment highlights.
