Supermodel Caprice Bourret has made a surprising revelation about her marriage to financier Ty Comfort, disclosing that their 2019 wedding ceremony cost a mere £42. The 54-year-old fashion icon, who shares 12-year-old twin sons Jax and Jett with Comfort, opened up about their deliberately low-key nuptials in a candid new interview.
The £42 Wedding That Defied Convention
Caprice Bourret detailed how she and Ty Comfort opted for an extraordinarily modest wedding ceremony that cost them just £42 one afternoon in London. "Our wedding was not exactly the most conventional of all weddings," Bourret explained to The Mirror. "It was 42 quid or something. We just went to the register office, and then after that we went back to work and called it a day. To say it was very low-key is an understatement."
The model, who has accumulated considerable wealth through her successful fashion career spanning decades, revealed her practical approach to marriage celebrations. Rather than splurging on an extravagant wedding, Bourret preferred to allocate funds toward more sensible investments like a house down payment. "I just wanted to be a little bit more sensible," she explained, noting that having children Jett and Jax had shifted her priorities significantly.
A Relationship That Began Against Expectations
Bourret first met Ty Comfort, the son of venture capitalist William Comfort II, when she was 39 years old through a mutual friend. This connection came after years during which Bourret had exclusively been attracted to younger men. The couple began dating in 2001 and eventually married eighteen years later in their secret 2019 ceremony.
Now living a quieter lifestyle with Comfort and their sons in a Grade II listed house in London's Notting Hill neighborhood, Bourret has embraced domesticity after her whirlwind years in the spotlight.
Reflections on a Wild Career and Fame
In the same revealing interview, Caprice Bourret reflected candidly on her behavior at the height of her modeling fame, describing herself as "unbearable" and "totally out of control." Speaking to Radio One DJ Charlie Hedges on My Wardrobe Malfunction, the mother-of-two admitted: "I believed my own bulls***. I believed my own hype. How could you not?"
Bourret, who has since given up alcohol, recounted wild nights out where she would command bouncers to bring men to her table at nightclubs. "I'd say: 'I want that guy, that guy, that guy, and that guy. Can you get them to come up to my table?' I mean, how embarrassing is that?" she recalled. "And they used to come to my table and sometimes I would make out with one, and I don't know, maybe make out with another one…It was out of control, it was crazy, you know? It was completely mental."
Career Choices and Missed Opportunities
The runway star also discussed her attempts to transition from being "the pretty face" to becoming a credible actress, a career move that led to some questionable decisions. Bourret revealed she turned down the lead role in Baywatch, thinking "I'm much bigger than that" at the time.
"I was always known as the babe and I just thought: 'I don't wanna be the babe anymore. I want to be a credible actress,'" she explained. Reflecting on this choice, Bourret now recognizes: "How stupid is that?"
In another revealing anecdote, Bourret described refusing an invitation from supermodel Cindy Crawford's publicist to meet for lunch and photographs. "My agent said 'Are you sure you want to do this? It is Cindy Crawford.' I said 'Yeah, she's trying to get publicity off of me.' That's crazy," Bourret admitted, recognizing her misjudgment in retrospect.
From Humble Beginnings to Fashion Stardom
Caprice Bourret grew up in Hacienda Heights, Los Angeles, with her interior designer mother Valerie and father Dale, an estate agent who passed away in 2016. She left home at just 17 years old and moved to New York City, where she launched what would become an illustrious modeling career.
The model shot to international fame in 1996 after appearing on the National TV Awards wearing a barely-there black Versace lace dress that became instantly iconic. Throughout the 1990s, Bourret dominated the fashion world, gracing countless magazine covers including prestigious publications like Vogue, Sports Illustrated, and Maxim.
Now, with her £42 wedding behind her and her wild fame days in the past, Caprice Bourret appears content with her quieter family life in London, having traded nightclub tables for domestic tranquility in Notting Hill.
