Culinary icon Dame Mary Berry is set to receive the prestigious Bafta Fellowship for her exceptional contribution to television. The 91-year-old expressed being “completely overwhelmed” by the honour, describing it as “the icing on the cake”.
Bafta's Highest Honour
She will be presented with Bafta's highest individual accolade at the Bafta Television Awards in May. Bafta lauded her as “one of the UK’s most beloved broadcasters”, noting her six-decade career and the transformative impact of her role on The Great British Bake Off.
Inspiring a Baking Revolution
Her work is credited with inspiring a national resurgence in home baking and establishing a new paradigm for competitive programming focused on “warmth and encouragement”.
In a statement, Dame Mary said: “I am completely overwhelmed and absolutely delighted to be receiving the Bafta Fellowship. To be recognised in this way by Bafta is the icing on the cake.”
The Bafta Television Awards will take place on Sunday, 11 May 2026, at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
