Gwyneth Paltrow Shares Makeup-Free Morning Routine & Mental Health Insights
Gwyneth Paltrow reveals makeup-free morning routine

Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow has offered her devoted followers an intimate look into her daily wellness practices by sharing a rare makeup-free selfie this Friday. The 53-year-old Oscar winner, who has recently been open about her mental health challenges, posted the candid image to her Instagram stories while wearing eye masks.

The Goop Founder's Morning Rituals

The actress began her relaxing morning with a Lift + Depuff eye mask from her own Goop Beauty brand. According to the official website, a package containing thirty masks currently retails for $125 (£100 approximately). Paltrow chose to go completely bare-faced for the photograph, styling her blonde hair in a simple updo that added to the natural aesthetic.

This isn't the first time the mother-of-two has discussed her morning habits. She previously detailed six specific practices she incorporates into her daily routine, including the ancient practice of tongue scraping. In a video clip shared back in October, the Iron Man actress appeared wearing a luxurious fluffy white robe while standing in her spacious bathroom.

Ancient Wellness Practices Meet Modern Luxury

Alongside using a copper tongue scraper, Paltrow engages in 'oil pulling', which she accomplishes by placing a packet in her mouth. This practice originates from ancient Indian folk medicine and is believed to whiten teeth, freshen breath, and significantly improve oral health, according to medical resource Healthline.

The next steps in her elaborate routine include cleansing her face with Goop cleanser, followed by application of a Peptide Serum from Goop designed to enhance her skin's natural glow. Paltrow then uses what she describes as an 'all-in-one moisturiser' along with Goop face oil, which she enthusiastically refers to as 'liquid gold'.

Embracing Age With Grace And Intention

The Shakespeare In Love star has frequently shared her perspectives on beauty and aging, including during a September interview with Coveteur. 'I think the older you get and the more quickly time passes, you realise how fleeting everything is and how valuable time is,' Paltrow told the publication.

She elaborated further, 'And for me anyway, it's sort of like this deepening of my life is happening in terms of slowing down a bit.' The actress later added, 'There's all of the wonderful freedoms that happen to you when you turn 50 and you're just sort of like, I want to live the rest of my life on my own terms and bring in the sweetness and the richness of the things that I want around me.'

Paltrow expressed that she's now 'trying to be very in tune with where my body and mind are at any given time.' She contrasted this with her younger years, admitting, 'When I was in my 20s, I was terrible with skincare and all that stuff. I would just go to bed with last night's makeup on...'

'Now, I feel like I align with the idea of really aging in the best, most empowering way possible, which requires some attention and taking care of your skin and taking care of your mind and your body.'

Candid Mental Health Revelations

During a recent episode of her Goop podcast, Paltrow became remarkably transparent about her personal mental health struggles, revealing that she has 'Attention Deficit Disorder' (ADD). The star explained, 'I would like to be more intentional about how I spend my time.'

'I think I have a bit of ADD and I can really get pulled in lots of directions. I would love to try to not do that so much and feel more grounded throughout the day.'

Paltrow also disclosed that her nervous system has become 'messed up' due to stress, dealing with fame, and hormonal changes. 'I've lived a very intense life in the public eye for a really, really long time,' she shared while discussing her battles with anxiety.

'And so I think whenever we're at the mercy of people's opinions and all the energy behind the opinions - I'm very sensitive, as most of us are - it kind of frays my nervous system.'

The actress added, 'Also, I have a lot of anxiety for the first time in my life, which is a symptom of hormonal changes. I think it's an oestrogen dominance thing. It makes you really anxious.'

Paltrow further described experiencing intrusive thoughts and morning dread, noting, 'But I know there's something wrong because my cortisol [stress hormone]... like I'll get in bed exhausted and my heart will start to race.'

'And then I'll have intrusive thoughts, which I've never had in my life ever. My sleep is still pretty okay, but sometimes I wake up first thing in the morning and I'm filled with dread.'

The star revealed she's currently seeing two therapists while also praising her 'amazing' support network. Her openness about both her wellness routines and mental health struggles provides a comprehensive picture of how the actress navigates her life in the public eye while prioritising self-care.
