Former This Morning presenter Fern Britton looked effortlessly stylish in a recent Instagram post, continuing to showcase the results of her remarkable five stone weight loss. The 68-year-old television personality, who has been open about her lifelong struggles with her weight, cut a glamorous figure in a chic green velvet ensemble.
The Stylish Reveal and Past Struggles
On Saturday, Fern shared a stylish snap with her followers, wearing a sophisticated outfit gifted from Busby & Fox. She donned a green velvet blazer with matching high-waisted trousers, beneath which she wore a elegant white ruffled blouse. This confident display comes from a woman who has previously admitted to fluctuating between a size 22 and a size 12 throughout her life.
Fern's Natural Weight Loss Secrets
Earlier this year, Fern directly addressed speculation about her transformation, including rumours of using medications like Ozempic. She told Woman&Home magazine, "People often wonder when you've lost lots of weight whether you've done it naturally. And I can look at you and say, 'Yes, I have.'" Her journey began in earnest after a shoulder surgery a couple of years ago, which prompted a period of reflection.
Fern decided to take full control of her health, making a conscious decision to stop smoking, stop drinking, get her eating under control, and stop lying in bed feeling sorry for herself. She kickstarted her fitness by beginning the Couch to 5k programme and made a significant dietary change by removing 80% of sugar from her diet, admitting she had never really considered what she was eating before.
An Active Lifestyle and New Beginnings
Her commitment to an active lifestyle was further evidenced in October, when she shared joyful snaps from a cycling holiday in Italy with her 'Bike Buddies'. She captioned the post, celebrating friendships spanning two decades. Fans were quick to praise her age-defying appearance and incredible transformation in the comments.
Away from the public eye, Fern has also been building a new life, having moved permanently into her Cornish holiday home five years ago, renovating it 'bit by bit'. Simultaneously, she has been prolific in her writing career. Her upcoming novel, 'A Cornish Legacy', is her 11th book and took two years to write, twice as long as her usual process, and is set for release in June.
