JLS singer Aston Merrygold has delivered a positive update to his fans from his hospital bed, confirming a successful operation following a serious ankle injury.
Successful Surgery and Grateful Thanks
The 37-year-old pop star took to Instagram on Friday, 6th December 2025, to share the news. In a post featuring a thumbs-up picture from his hospital bed, Merrygold expressed his relief and gratitude. He confirmed the procedure had gone to plan and extended a heartfelt "shout out to the incredible Dr’s, nurses and staff at the hospital."
He also posted snaps with his wife, Sarah, and their children Grayson, Macauley, and Riley, captioning the post: "Done, done & done! Thanks for all the love and support everyone... I’m home with my favourites so the rest and recovery starts now."
Performing Through the Pain
The injury occurred during an accident last week, which Merrygold initially revealed on TikTok. He explained he had "a bit of an accident" that required surgery, showing off his swollen ankle and a pair of "really cool crutches."
Despite the painful setback, the determined performer continued with JLS's ongoing comeback tour, even taking the stage on crutches. He reportedly told fans at the tour's opening night in Glasgow's Hydro Arena that his team had advised postponing, but he felt there was "no way" he could let supporters down.
He light-heartedly acknowledged his temporary limitations by wearing a bedazzled denim jacket with the phrase 'Backflips on hold' on the back.
Bandmates and Fans Rally with Support
Merrygold's update was swiftly met with an outpouring of well-wishes. His JLS bandmate Marvin Humes commented "My guy! Over the moon everything went well," while fans flooded the post with messages hoping for a speedy recovery.
The group, which also includes Oritsé Williams and JB Gill, first found fame on The X Factor in 2008. After splitting in 2013, they reunited this year for a series of UK shows. Merrygold has previously praised his bandmates for their support as he managed the injury during the tour.
With surgery now complete, the singer is focused on rest and rehabilitation at home with his family.
