Lercanidipine batch recall: patients told to check 10mg packs
Lercanidipine batch recall: check 10mg packs

Patients taking lercanidipine for high blood pressure are being urged to check their tablets after a batch of 10mg packs was found to contain a blister strip of 20mg tablets due to a mix-up. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has issued a recall notice for the affected packs.

The recall affects Accord packs with batch number M2510877, which expire in November 2028. If the blister strips inside are labelled 10mg, patients can continue taking the tablets. However, if a strip is labelled 20mg, they should not take those tablets and should contact their pharmacy.

Side-effects warning

Anyone who may have taken the incorrect dose and experiences side-effects such as dizziness, headaches, flushing or palpitations should seek immediate medical advice, the regulator says.

The MHRA has told healthcare professionals to stop supplying the batch immediately, quarantine all remaining stock and return it to the supplier using the supplier's approved process.

Patients who believe they have affected tablets are advised to check the packaging and follow the guidance provided by the regulator.
