Lara Stone reveals breast cancer diagnosis

Model Lara Stone has revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. The 44-year-old Dutch model, who was married to David Walliams from 2010 to 2015, shared the news in an Instagram post, describing the diagnosis as a "huge shock" while expressing gratitude that doctors caught the disease early.

Sharing the news publicly

In her post, Stone wrote: "Since it's still officially Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I wanted to share that I have recently been diagnosed and am undergoing treatment for breast cancer. This has obviously been a huge shock, and I'm so grateful to have found it early."

Explaining her decision to go public, she added: "I don't often share my personal life online, but if this post will make just 1 person check their breasts, or make that appointment they've been putting off, it's worth sharing."

She signed off by urging women not to ignore changes to their bodies, and shared an image of a pink breast cancer awareness graphic with the message: "Check your breasts it could save your life."

Support from friends and followers

Stone did not reveal when she was diagnosed, the stage of her cancer, or the specific treatment she is undergoing. Friends and followers flooded the comments section with messages of support, including supermodel Karen Elson, who wrote: "Lara, sending you so much love and strength. We are here for you."

M&S model Laura Bailey commented "Sending love x," while casting director Rosie Vogel added: "Sending so much love to you Lara. Thank you for posting and being willing to share!"

Personal background

Stone began dating Walliams, 55, in 2009 after meeting at a Chelsea football match. The couple became engaged and married the following year at Claridge's Hotel in central London. They welcomed a son, Alfred, 13, in 2013 and split in 2015, with the Little Britain co-creator citing "unreasonable behaviour".

Stone married her second husband, British property developer David Grievson, in 2021, having met two years earlier on the dating app Tinder. The couple welcomed a son named Bob in July 2023.
