Davina McCall's Cancer Recovery: TV Star Returns to Running After Surgery
Davina McCall returns to running after cancer treatment

Television presenter Davina McCall has shared an uplifting health update, revealing she has returned to running following her successful treatment for breast cancer. The 58-year-old star posted a triumphant message on Instagram this Saturday, expressing a 'super positive' outlook after completing her first jog since surgery.

A Year of Health Challenges

Davina's health journey began in November 2024 when she disclosed she had been diagnosed with a colloid cyst, a rare type of brain tumour. The former Big Brother host underwent a demanding six-hour operation to remove the 14mm cyst.

Almost exactly one year later, on November 8, Davina revealed she had faced another health crisis. She had been diagnosed with breast cancer six weeks earlier after discovering a lump while filming The Masked Singer. The TV personality underwent successful surgery to remove the cancer.

The Road to Recovery

In her recent social media post, Davina shared a beaming selfie wearing a red beanie hat, clearly elated about her return to physical activity. She penned an enthusiastic caption: 'First run! Yesssssssssss….. back to day one of running again… so good for my head … feeling super positive.'

The disease was caught 'very very early', as Davina previously explained, though she will still require radiotherapy treatment in January as what she describes as an 'insurance policy' to remain cancer-free.

Raising Awareness Through Experience

Davina recalled the moment that prompted her to seek medical attention. While on the set of The Masked Singer, she noticed signs in the Lorraine studios' toilets encouraging women to check their breasts. 'Every time I went for a wee I did that, and it was still there,' she shared in a candid clip.

After undergoing a biopsy that confirmed breast cancer, Davina had a lumpectomy nearly three weeks before her announcement. She expressed relief that 'it was very very small so I got it very very early, which is incredibly lucky, but I am so relieved that I have had it removed and that it hasn't spread.'

The television star acknowledged feeling 'very angry' when first receiving her diagnosis but has since moved to 'a much more positive place now.' She thanked medical staff, her family, and fiancé Michael Douglas for their support throughout her treatment.

Davina continues to use her platform to raise awareness about health checks, following the same approach she took when discussing her brain tumour operation in November 2024.
