Peter Andre reveals Emily's strict no-processed food rule for their kids
Peter Andre on Emily's strict parenting food rules

In a candid revelation, singer and TV personality Peter Andre has detailed the strict dietary rules he and his wife, Emily Andre, enforce for their children, crediting her as the driving force behind their healthy eating regime.

The No-Processed Food Rule

Writing exclusively for new! magazine, the 54-year-old star explained that he and NHS doctor Emily, 36, are adamant about avoiding processed foods for their young family. Peter, a father of five, confessed that while he might have been more relaxed left to his own devices, Emily's conviction on the matter has been unwavering.

"Emily and I try very hard not to give our children any processed food," Peter shared. "I have to give her full credit for that – I may have been a bit more slack had it all been left to me. She’s been adamant about it, though."

A Homemade Kitchen with One Sweet Exception

The couple ensures that their children's meals are predominantly homemade, with both Peter and Emily taking turns to cook. However, the musician admitted there is one area where they both allow some flexibility: chocolate.

"I’m a bit easier when it comes to chocolate," Peter said, before quickly adding that Emily also relaxes this particular rule. "That said, Emily does relax on chocolate too, because kids have to have fun and enjoy things."

He noted, however, that his wife maintains a firmer stance on soft drinks than he does. The star emphasised that every parent must find their own path, stating, "There’s no right or wrong as long as you’re doing what you think is best for your children."

A 'Scary' Parenting Milestone

The food rules discussion emerged alongside another significant family update. Peter recently experienced what he described as a "scary" parenting first during a family holiday to Cyprus.

Fans noticed that his 11-year-old daughter, Amelia, was absent from the holiday photos. Peter clarified that she was undertaking an incredible adventure with her grandmother, Emily's mother, who is a paediatrician.

"She was on a pilgrimage with Emily's mum – so with her grandma – and they did the Pyrenees, which was absolutely amazing," he revealed. "She walked about 80 km in four days, she said it was the most incredible experience."

While bursting with pride for his daughter's achievement, Peter confessed to the anxiety of letting her go. "It was very scary for us," he admitted. "It's very scary as a parent – obviously we knew that she's with Emily's mum, who is a paediatrician... but it is always scary."

Despite the worry, the proud father celebrated the independence and resilience Amelia demonstrated, marking a new chapter in their family's journey.
