Doctor Asif Ahmed has recommended Nestlé Kvarg, a £1 snack containing 80 calories, 15 grams of protein and just four grams of sugar, as a "greatest snack" for those looking to lose weight without giving up sweet treats.
In a social media post, Dr Ahmed described the product as "very thick and creamy", which can create the illusion of eating dessert. He noted that it is available in every supermarket he has visited.
Why the snack stands out
Dr Ahmed said he normally has one of these as a snack or at the end of a meal if he is still hungry, using it to fill up. He added: "Different content to what I normally make, but I think this is such an awesome product. It's helped me, because I normally would buy a protein bar, or something like that. Now I replace that with this to get me through the day if I'm feeling hungry."
Quark-style yoghurts like Nestlé Kvarg are a good source of calcium and contain protein that can help people feel fuller for longer, while supporting muscle maintenance and repair. They are often positioned as "high protein, low fat", allowing a filling portion without many calories.
Impact on weight loss
Dr Ahmed believes the product can be a "helpful tool" for those looking to lose weight, thanks to its balanced nutritional profile without compromising on flavour. In his comments section, many people said the snack has helped them prevent mindless snacking.
Other healthy snack options include fruit such as bananas, apples, berries or grapes; vegetables like cucumber, carrots and peppers; rice cakes with high-protein toppings such as peanut butter or cottage cheese; air-popped popcorn made at home; and boiled eggs, which are quick and packed with protein.
