Emma Bunton, best known as Baby Spice, has revealed she began experiencing menopause symptoms during lockdown and regrets not having a third child. The 45-year-old singer, who has two sons with her long-term partner Jade Jones, said she initially thought her anxiety and lethargy were due to the pandemic.
In an interview with the Mail on Sunday's You magazine, Bunton explained that she had been considering another pregnancy before realising she was perimenopausal. 'I started to feel unbalanced and anxious,' she said. 'At first I put it down to the pandemic. But then the anxiety became more regular, until it was daily.'
She added that she looked up her symptoms and spoke to a specialist via Zoom, who confirmed she was perimenopausal. The Spice Girl said the changes left her questioning whether she could have more children. 'It's been a very weird time. I'm a very mumsy person – when I see my friends' babies, I always become broody. But now I thought, OK, this is it.'
Bunton previously spoke about her love of pregnancy, telling Mother and Baby magazine last year: 'My partner, Jade, and I have always wanted children, so the thought of being pregnant was always very exciting for us. Carrying my children and being spoilt rotten was my idea of heaven.'
