Jeremy Clarkson has revealed he has been diagnosed with cancer. The former Top Gear host shared the news in the final episodes of the fifth series of Clarkson's Farm, which premiered overnight on Amazon Prime Video.
Difficult Watch Ahead
Clarkson warned fans that he had "sombre news" ahead of the show airing, adding that the final episodes would be a "difficult watch". "They're really, really difficult," he told followers in a post on Instagram.
Clarkson, 66, is seen revealing the news to co-stars Charlie Ireland and Kaleb Cooper. He describes the disease as "aggressive" but says it is at a "really early stage".
Details of the Diagnosis
"I've got cancer," he told the pair. "I've known since May," he added. "I had a medical, you remember back in May. I disappeared off the other week and I had a biopsy and it is cancer and it's aggressive, but it's really early so the treatment will be, you know."
Following his initial surgery, he told Cooper that he had "10 per cent" of his prostate removed via ultrasound. "The prostate, 10 per cent of it's dead," he said. "The 10 per cent where the cancer is."
Clarkson said that he is "fine standing up" following the procedure, though sitting on a tractor remained uncomfortable. He also mentioned that he was going for blood tests. "Come on cheer up, it probably did work," he added.
Hospital Bed Address
Clarkson's Farm, which documents the trials of farming on his land in Oxfordshire, concludes with Clarkson addressing audiences from a hospital bed. "I'm going to be here for a little while," he says. "I don't know what's going to happen."
The news of Clarkson's cancer diagnosis comes two years after he underwent a heart procedure after suffering a "sudden deterioration" in his health.
"So we started the year and I had coronary heart disease and ended it with me with cancer," he said on the Amazon Prime show.
