Tragedy in Swindon: Community Mourns Beloved Counsellor
Wiltshire Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of 55-year-old Sarah Forrester at a property in the Moredon area of Swindon. The incident occurred on Friday evening at a mid-terrace house on Baydon Close.
Officers responded to reports of a disturbance at the address. Upon arrival, they discovered Ms Forrester, who was not breathing. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Investigation and Arrest
A 13-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death. The teenager has since been released on police bail while the investigation continues.
In a statement released on Sunday, Detective Chief Inspector Guy Elkins from Wiltshire Police confirmed: "Our thoughts are with Sarah’s friends and family at this awful time." He added that the major crime investigation team is leading the inquiry and that a heightened police presence will remain in the Moredon area.
DCI Elkins provided a significant update, stating, "I can confirm that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with Sarah’s death." He urged the public to refrain from speculation and encouraged anyone with concerns to speak directly with their local neighbourhood policing team.
A Life Dedicated to Helping Others
Sarah Forrester was a dedicated mental health counsellor working for the Swindon-based Kelly Foundation. The charity released an emotional statement expressing their profound grief.
"We are all heartbroken at the sudden loss of our lovely Sarah," the statement read. It described her as "completely committed to the charity and devoted to her two young children."
Colleagues remembered Ms Forrester as "an incredible person, kind, thoughtful, considerate, caring and funny" who embodied the charity's values. The foundation noted she was "pivotal" to their work and that her loss represents a "hugely traumatic event" for her colleagues, but especially for her children and family.
The Kelly Foundation was established in memory of BBC Radio Wiltshire presenter Kelly Jobanputra, who died by suicide in 2019. Out of respect for Ms Forrester's family, the charity said it would not be commenting further at this time.
The investigation into Sarah Forrester's death continues as the community comes to terms with the loss of a woman described as being at the heart of mental health support in Swindon.
