Mollie King Thanks Fans After Collapse and Hospital Dash

BBC Radio 1 presenter Mollie King has issued a heartfelt thank you to fans following a major health scare that saw her rushed to hospital after collapsing at home. The 38-year-old, who rose to fame with girl group The Saturdays, took to social media to express gratitude for the overwhelming support she has received.

Collapse at Home

King revealed that she collapsed unconscious on her bathroom floor at 4am after returning home from work, hitting her head and face as she fell. She was then rushed to A&E. In an Instagram post, she wrote: 'Hi guys! So many of you have kindly messaged me over the past two weeks asking why I haven't been on air - thank you so much for checking in! After coming home late from work, I suddenly collapsed unconscious on the bathroom floor at 4am, hitting my head and face as I fell. It was a huge shock and I ended up being rushed to A&E.'

She credited her fiancé, retired cricketer Stuart Broad, for being there to help 'bring her round' after the fall. King also praised the medical staff at St George's Hospital, saying: 'A huge thank you to Amy and Hannah at St George's Hospital who were absolutely incredible, stitching me up so well, and even managed to see past the Looney Tunes pyjama top I arrived in (Must buy new pyjamas!).'

A Wake-Up Call

King described the incident as a 'real wake-up call' to prioritize her health. She said: 'It's been a real wake-up call that I need to make some time to get my strength back, not just for my own health, but so I can be the best version of myself for my family too. Yesterday, was my first day doing anything social. After what has felt like a very long two weeks, it was amazing to get out and spend time with my girls. We even had the surprise of spotting Daddy on a big screen, which made us all smile.'

She concluded her initial post: 'Thank you so much to everyone who has checked in on me, and for all the lovely birthday messages too. Your kindness has meant so much. I can't wait to be back on the radio with Matt today.'

Update and Reflection

On Thursday, June 11, King issued another update, expressing her gratitude for the continued support. She wrote: 'I wanted to say how blown away I've been by all of your messages over the past 24 hours. So many of you have taken the time to get in touch and send your well wishes, and it honestly means the world.'

She acknowledged the mental toll of the experience, saying: 'It's been quite a tough time. I don't know if you're the same, but when something happens out of the blue and my body suddenly doesn't do what I expect it to, it's very easy for my mind to go into overdrive, trying to find answers and overthinking every little thing.'

King emphasized the importance of rest and family, stating: 'I've always known that the most important thing in my life is my family, and being the best mum I can be to my two little girls. There is something really special about these quieter moments together that can get lost when life is moving at full speed. So right now, I'm trying to embrace a slightly different pace where I can. A bit of fresh air and focusing on getting my energy back. And honestly, that feels pretty good.'

Fans and fellow celebrities flooded the comments with love and support. The Saturdays' Una Healy left heart emojis, while co-host Matt Edmondson wrote: 'I'm proud of you Mol. X'
