Meghan Markle has been condemned by a royal expert who branded her decision to share a photograph of her children at Princess Diana's former home as a "vulgar act." The Duchess of Sussex posted an image on her Instagram account showing Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet strolling through the grounds of Princess Diana's childhood home, Althorp Estate. In the picture, Archie was seen carrying a bouquet of flowers, leading many to speculate that the pair were visiting the late Princess of Wales at her gravesite.
Widespread Criticism
Her choice to publish the image drew widespread criticism online, with many expressing their dismay at the estranged royal. It has also been alleged that she has not only infuriated the general public, but Prince William as well.
Columnist's Scathing Rebuke
Maureen Callahan, a Daily Mail columnist well-regarded for her commentary on the British Royal Family, penned a scathing opinion piece regarding the incident. She suggested that Meghan may have shared the image as "an act of defiance," particularly given that no photographs were allegedly permitted during Harry and Meghan's meeting with King Charles earlier this month.
Maureen further noted that Prince William and his wife, Princess Catherine, have undoubtedly visited Princess Diana's grave with their three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis — yet no photographs of such visits have ever been made public. "William and Catherine are decent, serious people who understand that some things are sacred," Maureen wrote.
"Diana was buried on that island, at her family's private residence, precisely to keep her gravesite from becoming a circus, a tourist attraction, a commodity."
The columnist went on to attack Meghan, branding the publication of the image as "vulgar" and "callous," drawing comparisons to the occasion she shared footage of herself relaxing in a car near the location where Princess Diana died, something that reportedly left William "fuming."
Harry's Homesickness
This follows reports from a source who revealed that Harry is growing increasingly desperate for reconciliation, having reportedly been left feeling "estranged" from his family. "I don't think [Harry's] ever wanted to be estranged from his family," the source said. "I think when he was madly in love with Meghan, he could be blind enough to choose her. Now things are different, and the veil is lifting."
Last year, it was also reported that the Duke of Sussex was experiencing homesickness, with a close friend claiming he deeply missed the UK. One confidant close to the Duke disclosed to the Standard, "Spike (his nickname among his old school friends) is seriously homesick. He's started reaching out to us more and more." They further added, "It started with very long and earnest WhatsApps. We actually all made a decision when we started getting them not to take the p--- out of them. Something we couldn't have imagined doing a few years before. Anyway, gradually, he seems to be sounding more normal." Whenever anyone goes to America, they try to see him. It never seems to be with Meghan, though. We think he is beginning to pine for home," the insider concluded.
