Kaleb Cooper Says Jeremy Clarkson's Spirits High Amid Cancer Battle
Kaleb Cooper: Jeremy Clarkson's Spirits High in Cancer Fight

Kaleb Cooper has offered a positive update on Jeremy Clarkson's health after the former Top Gear host, 66, revealed his diagnosis of aggressive prostate cancer. The Clarkson's Farm star, 27, has become one of Jeremy's closest confidants since they began working together at Diddly Squat Farm, a bond that has captivated audiences over five series of the popular Prime Video show.

Positive Spirits at Agricultural Event

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Kaleb disclosed that he recently saw Jeremy at an agricultural event and noted the presenter's optimistic demeanor. "I've seen him today, and I've seen him at Cereals, and his spirits are high, which is good," Kaleb said.

The diagnosis features prominently in the current series of Clarkson's Farm, with an emotionally charged episode revealing the news. Kaleb admitted it was difficult to watch his friend navigate such a challenging period. "I think anything that's emotional is just about how you take it. You sit there and be supportive, or do you mope about it and lock yourself away? At that time you've got to be supportive," he explained.

Unwavering Support

The 27-year-old emphasized his commitment to standing by Jeremy throughout the ordeal. "I was there for the whole journey, and I'm still here now, so that's the main thing." Their relationship has become a standout element of Clarkson's Farm, with viewers drawn to their playful exchanges and genuine camaraderie.

According to Kaleb, their dynamic remains unchanged when the cameras stop rolling. "As soon as the cameras stop, we're exactly the same, and that's the good thing about it." The duo's on-screen arguments are entirely authentic, with Kaleb confessing he enjoys provoking his employer. "I actually really enjoy it. I like winding him up! I don't know why, I just like it." When asked if he knows which buttons to push, he chuckled: "Every button possible!"

From Farmhand to Star

Kaleb's rise to fame has been remarkable. Raised in Chipping Norton and involved in agriculture from a young age, he was already helping with land management at Diddly Squat before Jeremy bought the farm. Since appearing on Clarkson's Farm in 2021, he has become a bestselling author, hosted his own spin-off show, embarked on live tours, and become one of Britain's most beloved television personalities.

Despite his celebrity status, Kaleb insists he never planned his trajectory. "Weirdly, no! I don't think anyone can plan for that, really." He added: "I've done six seasons of Clarkson's Farm, done my own series on Amazon Prime, done four books, and a world live tour, and of course, now I get the star in an advert for Hawkstone that's on TV, which I perform my own stunts to! It's truly amazing."

Motivation and Dreams

Much of his determination stems from childhood encouragement, including from his late grandfather. "From a young age, instead of my gramps saying, 'Well done,' to me, he'd go to Chipping Norton and tell everyone what I was doing. And the following day, as I'd walk through that town, everyone would say, 'Well done', not just one person."

Despite his success, Kaleb's priorities remain grounded. Engaged to partner Taya and father to three children—five-year-old Oscar, three-year-old Willa Grace, and ten-month-old Ashton—he still dreams of owning his own farm. "My dream is to buy my own farm. That's the goal. That's what I'm working towards. But I live in the Cotswolds and it's very expensive to live in! So I've just got to keep working harder."

Unfazed by celebrity culture, Kaleb admits he often doesn't recognize famous faces. "Actually, the good thing is, when I meet celebrities, I don't know who they are. I really struggle with who's who." He added: "I don't necessarily go out there and find out the showbiz news in The Mirror to find out!"

Future Ambitions

While he has already mastered farming, television, publishing, and live performances, Kaleb has set his sights on a new venture: a natural history program. "I wouldn't mind doing a natural Go Wild animal programme, like David Attenborough in a way." As for where his wildlife journey might begin? "I'll start with a fox, and then maybe get to a seal or a shark. Or maybe a stick insect. That's the journey I'll go on!"
