The latest series of the beloved BBC period drama Call the Midwife is set to introduce fresh drama and tension this weekend. As the show continues its fifteenth series, set in Spring 1971, two significant new characters are arriving in Poplar, threatening to disrupt a blossoming romance.

The newcomers are Major Clifford (David Bark-Jones) and Josephine (Natasha Joseph). Their arrival promises to be a challenging encounter for Cyril, who must navigate their potential judgements. Actor Zephryn Taitte hinted at the struggle, telling the Radio Times: "He has to wrestle with her parents and how they may view him and judge him, rightly or wrong."

Taitte further teased that Cyril has "a lot to contend with this season," describing the central romance as "bittersweet." His co-star, Natalie Quarry, suggested that the forthcoming scenes will seriously "test" her character's relationship with Cyril.
This personal drama unfolds against the backdrop of an Easter celebration at Nonnatus House, where the Poplar community gathers. While Cyril faces a rocky dinner with the Cliffords, other residents are immersed in the festive spirit.

The episode will also showcase the seasonal joy, with an Easter egg hunt taking place outside Nonnatus House. First-look images reveal midwife Joyce Highland ditching her uniform for a stunning pink outfit, while Fred Buckle appears to be wearing a Mayoral necklace.
