A man has been arrested after two people were stabbed following a pickaxe attack at Central Middlesex Hospital in London, with one victim in a life-threatening condition, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The two stabbing victims are believed to be NHS maintenance staff working at the hospital. A building contractor at the site reported seeing the suspect wielding an axe and chasing two colleagues before returning to the hospital.
The suspect was arrested outside the hospital and is receiving treatment for self-inflicted injuries. One victim has life-threatening injuries, while the other is in a stable condition. Both are being treated at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington.
The incident is not being treated as terrorism-related. The hospital was temporarily locked down but has since reopened and is operating normally. Armed officers responded shortly after 2pm, and hundreds of patients and staff were evacuated.
