Yorkshire Wildlife Park to Reopen After Tiger Attack

Yorkshire Wildlife Park is set to reopen on Monday, October 12, following a weekend closure after a man was fatally mauled by one of its tigers. The park confirmed the tiger, named Altai, will not be put down as a result of the incident.

Man Dies After Entering Tiger Enclosure

South Yorkshire Police were called to the park at around 1.35pm on Saturday, October 10, after a man entered the tiger enclosure. The man suffered serious injuries and tragically lost his life. The park was evacuated, and black screens were erected around the enclosure following the incident.

The Doncaster wildlife attraction remained closed on Sunday. According to its website, the park will reopen on Monday with opening hours from 9.45am to 5pm, with last entry at 3pm.

Statement on Tiger Altai

In a statement released on Sunday, the park said: "We would like to thank everyone who was expressed their concern following yesterday's tragic incident. Our thoughts and hearfelt sympathies remain with the family and loved ones of the man who sadly lost his life."

The statement added: "The park will be closed today while the staff team who were deeply affected by events receive specialist support. Many, many people have contacted us about Altai, the tiger. We can reassure everyone that he is safe and well and will not be euthanised as a result of this incident."

Emergency Response and Family Support

Multiple ambulances and an air ambulance were dispatched to the scene at the time of the incident. South Yorkshire Police said the man's family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
