A loyal terrier has earned the heartbreaking title of the UK's most unwanted dog after spending a staggering 644 days waiting for a forever home in rescue kennels.
Teddy, an eight-year-old terrier, arrived at the RSPCA's Bath Cats and Dogs Home in July 2022. Despite his sweet nature and affectionate personality, he has watched countless other dogs find their families while he remains overlooked.
Staff at the shelter describe him as a "lovely boy" with a "heart of gold" who is full of character. He enjoys leisurely strolls, cuddling on the sofa, and would make an ideal companion for a quiet household.
Why Has Teddy Been Overlooked?
The team believes his lengthy stay is due to a combination of his age and the fact he would be best suited to a home without other pets. As an older dog, he is often bypassed for younger, more energetic puppies.
"It's so sad to see Teddy still with us," said a spokesperson for the home. "He's such a good-natured boy who deserves so much more than life in a kennel. He has so much love to give."
A Plea for a Second Chance
The animal shelter is now making a fresh, urgent appeal to the public. They are hoping to find a dedicated owner who can see past his age and offer him the peaceful retirement he so richly deserves.
Prospective owners are encouraged to contact Bath Cats and Dogs Home directly to meet Teddy and discover what a wonderful addition he would make to a loving family.
