Dubai has opened the world's first 24-hour private beach exclusively for women, featuring all-female staff and a dedicated night swimming experience. The Al Mamzar beach, located in the northeastern corner of the emirate along the border with Sharjah, opened earlier this month to both residents and tourists.
Features of the Women-Only Beach
The enclosed stretch of sand is equipped with privacy fencing, strict no-photography rules, and smart monitoring safety systems. It is part of the wider Al Mamzar redevelopment project, which aims to expand Dubai's beaches and infrastructure under a comprehensive public beach development master plan valued at AED 3 billion (£610 million).
While several destinations in the UAE already offer women-only beach zones or dedicated ladies' days, this new beach is the first to provide round-the-clock access. The 125,000 square metre area operates with an all-female staff, including security guards and lifeguards. It also features a children's play area, with boys under six permitted entry accompanied by a parent.
Night Swimming and Safety
Lifeguard watch towers and a high-tech lighting system are designed to encourage women to swim at all hours of the day. Dubai Municipality stated that increasing visitor demand is expected to reach seven million annually upon completion of the second phase at Al Mamzar Corniche.
Badr Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, said: "Khor Al Mamzar Beach is one of Dubai Municipality's flagship strategic projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency of coastal infrastructure and redefining the beachfront experience as a vibrant, all-day destination. Its opening marks a key milestone in delivering high-quality public beaches that combine design excellence, integrated experiences, and community engagement — further strengthening Dubai's position as a leading destination for beach tourism and lifestyle experiences."
Travel Advisory
The UK Foreign Office currently advises against all but essential travel to the United Arab Emirates. This advisory comes amid regional tensions, with reports of Iran war impacting Dubai's tourism industry.
