Robert Irwin's Heartbreaking Revelation: Steve's Final Message
Steve Irwin's son shares father's final message

In an emotional revelation that has touched hearts worldwide, Robert Irwin has shared the heartbreaking contents of a final video message his legendary father Steve Irwin left for him before his tragic death.

The Tragic Loss of a Conservation Icon

Steve Irwin, the beloved Crocodile Hunter, died on September 4, 2006 while filming an underwater documentary titled 'Ocean's Deadliest' at Batt Reef, off the coast of Port Douglas in Australia. The famed Australian conservationist was just 44 years old when a short-tail stingray barb pierced his chest, causing massive trauma to his thoracic wall and heart.

Despite immediate CPR from crew members and being rushed to nearby Low Island, Steve Irwin could not be saved. His death remains the only stingray fatality ever captured on video and one of the very few human deaths attributed to stingrays.

A Father's Lasting Words

Robert Irwin, who was only two years old when his father passed away, recently appeared on The Viall Files podcast where he emotionally shared the contents of a video message Steve had recorded for him. The now 21-year-old conservationist became visibly moved to tears as he described watching his father's poignant words.

"For me watching that, it's like he gave me this gift - it's there, it's material, it's in writing," Robert shared. "I'm watching him looking through the camera and telling me, 'I'm not always gonna be here.'"

The video contained footage of Steve Irwin explaining how he was building a legacy to leave to his children, Bindi and Robert. Steve told his son he was "creating something that you can continue and that's what I want you to do."

Continuing the Irwin Legacy

Both Robert and his sister Bindi Irwin have embraced their father's mission, actively promoting wildlife conservation through their work with Australia Zoo and Wildlife Warriors, the conservation organisation Steve and Terri Irwin founded in 2002.

Robert, currently competing in the finals of the 34th season of Dancing with the Stars, has followed in his father's footsteps as a wildlife photographer and conservationist. His sister Bindi, 27, serves as CEO of Australia Zoo.

The siblings' dedication to their father's work comes despite Robert facing significant trolling from social media users who have criticised his close relationship with his mother Terri and compared him unfavourably to his late father. However, Robert has consistently handled the criticism with grace, endearing himself to millions worldwide.

As Robert continues his journey on Dancing with the Stars - even receiving a surprise message of support from Prince William during the show's 20th anniversary celebration - he carries with him the powerful words and legacy his father left behind.
