A woman was left stunned when a cheeky robin made itself completely at home during her stroll through a Yorkshire park. Fay Louise was enjoying a peaceful walk around Yorkshire Wildlife Park when a 'very friendly, and presumably cold' robin decided her hair made the perfect perch.
Sharing her experience on Facebook's British Bird Lovers group, she wrote: 'Blessed by this very friendly (and presumably cold!) robin at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park today, who decided my hair was the perfect nestling spot.' She explained that she first thought the bird was stuck, but when she freed him, he stayed for a long time, despite her encouragement to fly back into the woodland area, and followed her when she put him on the ground.
The bold robin could be spotted perched on her camera and snuggling into her hair, appearing utterly content to have discovered a cosy human radiator as temperatures plummeted below freezing. The fearless bird was even comfortable being cradled in her hands, with Fay capturing several sweet shots of him nestled in her palm and gently held against his plump scarlet chest.
Fellow bird enthusiasts were charmed by the encounter in the comments, describing it as a 'wonderful experience'. One woman shared a story of a tame robin and blackbird that would sit outside her kitchen window until she fed them. Another person revealed the legend that robins are messengers from dead loved ones, a notion that telly psychic Psychic Sally firmly subscribes to.
According to jindesigns, the well-known saying 'when robins appear, loved ones are near' suggests that the robin serves as a messenger. 'The next time you see a robin in your garden, make sure to pay attention. You never know what message they might have for you,' they advised.
