The £500m Therme Manchester wellbeing resort has reached a key milestone, with company bosses confirming that construction is progressing well. The first of 12 tower cranes was erected on the site last week, marking the start of an exciting new phase of construction.
Therme Manchester is billed as one of the biggest wellbeing resorts in the world, promising affordable-priced luxury with lagoon and wave pools, multi-sensory sauna rituals, steam rooms, multiple water slides, and Olympic-sized pools. The project has been years in the making, with completion expected in late 2028.
Construction Progress and Public Gallery
While the land next to the Trafford Centre remains more building site than resort, bosses say work there is progressing well. Therme said the cranes will play a key role in bringing the vision to life, creating an amazing destination where wellbeing, relaxation, and fun come together.
Hoarding around the site has also been transformed into a public gallery that celebrates the next generation of artistic talent. This features artwork created by young people in schools and community groups across Salford and Trafford, developed in partnership with Gorse Hill Studios, a creative youth arts charity in Trafford.
Marriott Partnership Announced
The milestone was swiftly followed by news of an exciting new partnership between Therme and international hotel chain Marriott. The collaboration will see the two team up to reshape travel into a wellbeing experience by creating moments of restoration, joy, and connection that elevate every stay.
Priority areas for the firms span customer experience, design innovation, wellness research, and future global development opportunities. Initial efforts will see Marriott Bonvoy members introduced to Therme through new travel and lodging packages. Therme said its contributions will help reimagine hotel amenities, from spas and fitness to guestroom concepts.

Therme Manchester will be divided into three main zones: Relax, Restore, and Play. Play will be a family-friendly zone complete with waterslides, while Relax will be aimed at the over-16s and include a swim-up bar area. Restore will also be an adults-only area, offering saunas, wellbeing consultations, and spa therapies.
