Primark's LED Light Therapy Face Mask, on sale for £15, offers a budget-friendly entry into the world of LED skincare, but comes with limitations, a test by the Daily Record has found.
A Budget Alternative to High-End Devices
Beauty writer Rachel Williams tested the device after seeing it hailed on TikTok as an affordable swap for pricier options like the Shark CryoGlow, which costs around £300. Her local store had the mask, usually £26, on sale for £15.
The flexible silicone mask folds around the face, with adjustable head straps for a personalised fit. It includes protective eye shields, though Williams found them rigid and uncomfortable, leaving marks on her skin.
Three Light Settings and Limited Instructions
The mask offers three light settings: red for stimulating collagen, green to even out skin tone, and blue to target acne and blemishes. The instruction manual does not explain their benefits, and it does not mention the frequency of the LED light wavelengths, making it hard to determine long-term power.
It comes with two charging cords and a wired remote controller, allowing users to select colour and duration from five, 10, or 15 minute increments. Williams wore it for 10 to 15 minutes on freshly cleansed skin.
Portable and Promising Results
After a few uses, Williams reported her skin seemed clearer and more uniform, though she was unsure if this was due to the mask or her regular skincare routine. She praised its portability, noting it can be worn around the house and packed easily for travel.
While the mask is limited compared to pricier alternatives, Williams concluded that for £15, it made her feel like she had elevated her skincare routine, and she could not complain.
