Florida Detectives Fired After Bar Bathroom Sex Scandal and Brawl

Two Florida sheriff's detectives have been fired after a night of misconduct at a bar, including one who was caught having sex in the bathroom and flashed his badge to avoid trouble, according to an internal affairs report.

Putnam County Detective Raymond Strickland and Detective Joshua Maynard lost their jobs following an incident at Hi Level Lounge & Package Liquors in Palatka, Florida, on June 8. The report states that Maynard, who was Detective of the Year in 2023, got into a fight during which his handgun fell to the floor and was picked up by a waitress.

While Maynard was fighting, Strickland was in the bathroom with his girlfriend. Bar owner Larry Adkins allegedly found them having sex, and Strickland pulled out his badge and waved it in Adkins' face. Adkins was unimpressed and filed a complaint.

The 60-page investigation found both detectives guilty of misconduct. Strickland, who was still on probation, cannot appeal. Maynard has 60 days to appeal; he has reportedly moved out of the county and plans to accept the punishment.
