The Aeocky Boreas 25L/D dehumidifier, priced at £179.99, is designed to tackle dampness in UK homes, particularly during colder months when wet clothing is dried indoors. The unit extracts up to 25 litres of moisture a day under lab conditions of 35°C and 95% relative humidity, according to the makers.
The compact device, measuring 33.5cm x 22cm x 45.7cm, features wheels and a carry handle for easy movement between rooms. It also includes a Smart Drying Mode specifically for indoor laundry, prioritising high airflow and sustained moisture removal to draw water from wet clothes and surrounding air.
Performance and Features
The Boreas sucks in large amounts of air quickly, strips it of moisture, and returns air that is slightly warmer than the air it draws in, helping damp rooms feel less clammy in cooler weather. In testing, night mode provided fast but quiet operation, improving sleep quality and air breathability.
The device has an anti-frost coated evaporator and defrost sensors, allowing the compressor system to continue operating down to 10°C in a room, making it suitable for colder areas such as unheated utility spaces or garages.
Usability and Noise
The unit operates from 40 dB at the lowest fan speed, thanks to a vibration-damping system and dual-chamber air path that reduce mechanical and airflow noise. A green light indicates when humidity levels reach the preferred 45-55% range, and this light can be turned off during sleep.
When the water tank is full, a red light displays "FL" and the unit shuts down automatically, preventing overflow. For continuous drainage, pipes are included to pump collected water into an outlet, so the tank never needs emptying.
Impact
Full tanks in relatively short periods demonstrate the Boreas's efficiency in reducing household dampness. Winter testing is still to come, particularly for condensation on windows, but the unit's compact design and powerful suction already show promise in addressing a common winter issue.
