The RSPCA has issued an urgent appeal to cat lovers and potential pet owners, asking them to 'choose to adopt' as the charity faces mounting strain during its busiest period of the year. In a social media post, the animal welfare charity highlighted that rehoming centres are under intense demand as more cats and kittens need help.
Kitten Season Pressure
The RSPCA reported that it is currently in 'Kitten Season', a period running from spring to autumn, during which frontline services face immense pressure. The charity explained: "We're in the midst of Kitten Season - and we need your help. Kitten season is our busiest time of year, putting our rehoming centres and branches under immense pressure as thousands of vulnerable young cats and kittens enter our care."
Since May, the RSPCA has responded to 6,308 cat-related incidents, including abandoned litters and pregnant cats. The charity also urged cat owners to neuter their pets, noting that cats can become pregnant as young as four months old.
