A new outdoor gym built by North Lanarkshire Council in Muirhouse has been welcomed by residents.
Facility details
The exercise facility, which is free to use, is located next to the MUGA and pitches at Shields Drive. It includes 11 different pieces of gym equipment including a single air walker, spinning bike, elliptical trainer, hydraulic stepper, chest press, shoulder press and abs bench, and has wetpour surfacing for safer training.
Partnership and funding
The project was developed in partnership with Motherwell Phoenix Football Club. Funding of £35,000 came from the council’s Local Development Programme, which is managed by its Community Partnership Team.
“The new outdoor gym is a great addition to the Muirhouse community, allowing residents to exercise and improve their mental and physical health and wellbeing,” said Councillor Geraldine Woods, Convener of the council’s Communities Committee. “Well done to everyone involved for creating this excellent facility.”
