Anthony Gordon has taken his game to another level since leaving Newcastle United, but has been told he can still get even better.
Barcelona winger Gordon has now become one of the first names on the England team sheet and joins Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham as one of the untouchables. But Thomas Tuchel believes that Gordon can get even better - and even suggested that he could have done better at the World Cup.
World Cup impact
Gordon, 25, who has scored six goals in 27 caps, really caught light in the United States after a brilliant appearance as a substitute against DR Congo when he changed the game. His standout performance was against Mexico and he scored in the semi final against Argentina and has also scored in both of England's Nations League games.
Tuchel believes the move abroad together with his growing confidence are the reasons why Gordon's level has gone up.
Tuchel's verdict
England boss Tuchel said: "I don't know if it's the move to Barcelona. A move abroad always brings its challenges. You step out of your comfort zone, a new language, new culture, new approach of play in the club and of course, the club itself demands the highest standards.
"I know the coach, Hansi Flick, and he demands the highest standards, the highest intensity. He was very decisive in the last two matches for us and hopefully he continues like that.
"I can understand the signing and it makes sense. He plays with Raphinha more inside and Anthony then on the wing who gives the same intensity and lives off his runs and dynamic actions on and off the ball.
"I strongly hope he does not lose this and I am very confident because Barcelona plays very intensely and if he can combine the two things, then he is a very dangerous and very important player for us and yes, it is good at the moment.
"I knew he could do this but he is a player full of confidence which is what you see. You see all his talent and that is what he does.
"I think he could have done even better at the World Cup but it was difficult, every match was difficult, circumstances are different and now he arrives full of confidence and wanted to prove a point that it is his shirt on the left hand side. That is exactly what he does and what we want and he gets the praise for it. At the same time the expectations rise, of course."
Gordon on his qualities
Gordon has claimed his style of play wasn't fully appreciated while he was in the Premier League, and says it's only since leaving Newcastle that his footballing 'IQ' has been fully understood.
Gordon told ITV: "I think I have become a different player in a lot of people's eyes. I always felt in England, people respected me because I was fast and I pressed but they never actually respected the quality and IQ that I play with. Only the players I have played with seem to notice that.
"I think now I'm at Barcelona and play a different style those qualities are highlighted more and people actually are starting to take notice that I'm not just quick.
"I played for Newcastle who were a really intense running team so the attributes of running and aggression were always on show. Now, I play a whole opposite style of football where my other qualities can show."
