A rescue dog described as the 'most terrified' has undergone a remarkable transformation after being adopted by a veterinarian, in what volunteers are calling a 'Christmas miracle'. The one-year-old dog, named Rosalind, was so fearful that staff at BarkVille Dog Rescue in the US had been unable to take her outside for exercise.
Volunteer Bruna, who shared the story on TikTok, said she fell in love with Rosalind despite seeing a 'broken, deeply scared dog'. She explained that Rosalind would 'completely shut down' whenever a lead was attached. Bruna began carrying her outside to sit in the sun, and slowly the dog began to open up.
On Christmas Day, Bruna posted a video of Rosalind cowering in her pen, urging someone patient and caring to adopt her. The clip was spotted by Dr Andy, a veterinarian, who contacted the shelter and arrived the next morning to adopt her. The footage shows Rosalind's first meeting with her new owner, where she is seen wagging her tail and giving affectionate licks.
Bruna said Rosalind was 'like a completely different dog' when she met Dr Andy, adding: 'He knew he could mend her broken heart.' She expressed gratitude to the doctor for saving Rosalind, saying she believes the dog is now becoming the dog she was always meant to be.
TikTok users reacted with joy, with one commenting: 'An absolutely beautiful ending for 2025 with a wonderful new beginning in 2026.' Another said: 'I'm extremely happy you have a loving home with Dr Andy.'
